How will Bridgend remember her war dead?

"The First World War was a turning point in world history. It claimed the lives of over 16 million people across the globe and had an impact on the lives of everyone. One hundred years on, we are all connected to the First World War, either through our own family history, the heritage of our local communities or because of its long term impact on society and the world we live in today."

How will Bridgend remember her war dead? `

Over the coming year I plan to create a piece of 'Remembrance Art': this will include a photograph of every person from Bridgend that fought and died or fought and survived The Great War along with their name.

These will include Soldiers, Nurses, Red Cross Staff etc.

If I cannot obtain a photograph of the said male or female they have a silhouette instead of a photograph so that they can still be remembered.

examples below:

I am hoping these photographs will be displayed on a board somewhere in public or displayed via an empty shop windows.

Along with this I will be researching how World War One impacted the lives of the people in Bridgend. I hope to discover and share these peoples stories so that they can be remembered with respect.

I will be doing this by setting up a blog that will document my findings.

This will be a project for the community so that you can all contribute and remember in your own way.

Do you have any photographs, stories or ideas that you would like to contribute to this project?
